All long-coated Mi-Kis
that are shown, regardless of age, are required
to be in show cut.
After a bath and blow
dry, you can begin. Be sure your Mi-Ki has been
brushed out completely (no mats). Judges check
the armpits for mats and so should you. I use
palm clippers because the narrow blade is easy to
maneuver in small places.
You only need a #10 blade
to do all the clipping on a Mi-Ki. Clip down the
top of the nose (DO NOT cut off the moustache or
beard). Clip the head and down the cheeks into a
"V" shape under the chin on the neck just above
the breast bone. Begin to clip from the head to
the ear a quarter of the length of the ear
leather and blend in. You should clip and clean
the inside of the ear half the distance from the
head to the end of the ear leather.
Clip the feet to 1/4" above the bend of the
foot. Clip hair between the pads. Be sure that
the ears and teeth are clean and that the nails
are trimmed.
NOTE:Smooth coat
Mi-Kis are not to be clipped except underneath
the foot in between the pad, clean ear and teeth.
Be sure your smooth coat has had a fresh bath and
blow dry. Also, be sure your smooth coat is
brushed out completely (no mats). Judges check
the armpits for mats and so should you.
Now...go have FUN!!!
